Central News Agency Report

(CNA reporter Su Chih-Yu, Taipei, June 11) Private Kubo Senior High School in New Taipei City plans to halt admissions starting in the 116th academic year and undergo institutional transformation. The school's well-known youth baseball team is preliminarily expected to relocate to Sanchong Senior High School. Wang Wei-Chen, a professional baseball star in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) and alumnus of Kubo's baseball team, said: 'The name may change, but the spirit remains.'

Impacted by declining birthrates, Kubo Senior High plans to discontinue its current vocational programs and transition into a bilingual K-12 school. Tsai Ming-Tang, former New Taipei City councilor and long-time sponsor of Kubo's baseball team—affectionately known as 'Chairman Tsai'—indicated that the baseball team is expected to move to Sanchong High School, though details are still under discussion.

Wang Wei-Chen, captain of the CTBC Brothers and Kubo alumnus, stated in a media interview that although the team's name may change, its spirit will endure. He emphasized that Chairman Tsai has long been passionate about baseball and expressed confidence that he will continue to support players, ensuring the cultivation of future baseball talent in Taiwan.

Reflecting on his youth baseball days, Wang admitted that wearing the Kubo uniform brought pressure, 'but that pressure helped us grow faster.' He observed that Kubo baseball players share a common trait: a deep passion and dedication to the sport. (Edited by Chang Ya-Ching) 1150611
