Key News on US-Iran Conflict

(Taipei, Tehran, 11th - CNA, international news) Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced today that it has attacked US military base targets in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to a new round of US airstrikes. This marks the third time this week that the US and Iran have exchanged attacks.

According to AFP, citing a statement from the IRGC published by the Iranian news agency IRNA, 18 key US Army targets within the Ali al-Salem and Ahmad Al-Jaber air bases in Kuwait were struck in two waves. The statement also claimed they "attacked and destroyed the Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain."

Earlier, Iranian media reported attacks on the US Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain.

Iran's Mehr News Agency and Fars News Agency posted on the messaging platform Telegram: "During this drone military operation, the communication antennas and radar facilities of the Fifth Fleet's Patriot (anti-aircraft missile) system were targeted."

Bahrain's Ministry of Interior issued an air raid alert on social platform X, urging residents to "remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe location."

The US military confirmed it has completed a new round of airstrikes against Iran, targeting "Iran's military surveillance capabilities, communication systems, and air defense facilities."

US Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees US military operations in the Middle East, stated on X: "US Marine Corps, Air Force, and Navy units launched precision munitions against Iranian targets that posed a threat to US forces and international commercial vessels transiting regional waters."

The Associated Press, citing Iranian media, reported that explosions were heard in southern Iranian cities including Bandar Abbas, Sirik, and Minab.

This marks the third round of mutual airstrikes between the US and Iran this week, once again challenging the two-month ceasefire that had been in place. (Translation: Lu Ying-tzu) 1150611
