Taiwan Marine Transportation held a board meeting today, appointing Director Wei Chien-Hung as its new chairman effective immediately, with a formal handover ceremony conducted after the meeting. The ceremony was overseen by Lin Kuo-Hsien, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.

Lin stated that as the supervisory authority and a major government shareholder, the Ministry highly commends Taiwan Marine Transportation's long-term operational achievements. He expressed deep respect to outgoing Chairman Liu Wen-Ching, noting that under his leadership, the company demonstrated operational resilience and strong governance, achieving steady growth amid the turbulent international shipping market.

The new chairman, Wei Chien-Hung, holds a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, USA, with expertise in public transportation, traffic safety, and intelligent transportation systems. He previously served as a professor in the Department of Transportation and Logistics Management at National Cheng Kung University and as Chairman of Chunghwa Post, where he actively promoted digital transformation and smart logistics initiatives.

Wei stated that he will build upon the strengths established by former Chairman Liu, including a modernized fleet and sound financial structure, to continuously improve operational performance in the rapidly changing maritime market.
