Sinphar Deepens Partnerships with Japanese Firms, Expanding in Digestive and Cancer Drug Markets

(Central News Agency reporter He Xiuling, Taipei, 12th) Generic pharmaceutical manufacturer Sinphar recently signed a new agency agreement with Japan's Magmitt Pharmaceutical for the Taiwan market rights to a digestive system drug. After its introduction, it is expected to strengthen Sinphar's product line. In addition, Sinphar is negotiating cooperation agreements with Japanese pharmaceutical companies regarding cancer drug contract manufacturing, technology licensing, and market sales, expanding its footprint in the Japanese and Asian markets.

Sinphar pointed out in a press release today that Vice Chairman Lee Yi-da and General Manager Pai You-lang recently visited partners in Japan, continuing the exchange outcomes from the 2025 CPHI Japan (International Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients Japan) exhibition. They are negotiating with multiple Japanese companies on cooperation cases such as drug agency, contract manufacturing, joint development, technology licensing, and market sales.

Pai You-lang stated that Sinphar has signed a new sales agency right for the Taiwan market for a digestive system drug with Japan's Magmitt Pharmaceutical, a partner of many years. This product has long held a certain market share and reputation in similar markets in Japan. It is expected that bringing it into Taiwan will help enhance market competitiveness and reinforce Sinphar's product layout in the field of digestive system medications.

Sinphar noted that the demand for digestive system drugs is relatively stable. According to historical medication statistics from the National Health Insurance Administration, related drugs have long been among the main medication categories for Taiwanese people, with constipation medication usage ranking near the top. As Taiwan enters a super-aged society, the market demand for related drugs is expected to continue growing.

Besides the agency business, Sinphar is also continuing to deepen its cooperative relationship with Japan's Daito. Sinphar stated that the multiple cooperation cases negotiated by both parties previously during CPHI Japan have been gradually advanced. Among them, the jointly collaborated cancer drug contract manufacturing export contract has entered the delivery stage.

Sinphar expressed that it is currently negotiating diverse cooperation models with other large Japanese pharmaceutical companies. The content covers areas such as cancer drug exports, digestive system drug agencies, technology licensing for the manufacturing and sales of drugs for the "three highs" (high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high blood lipids) in Taiwan, as well as exclusive raw material development. It hopes to strengthen its role in the Asian pharmaceutical supply chain through these collaborations.

Sinphar pointed out that if related cooperation cases are successfully implemented in the future, it is expected to strengthen the cancer drug product portfolio, increase production line utilization rates and export proportions, and join hands with Japanese partners to expand into the Japanese and Asian markets, enhancing the international visibility of Taiwan's pharmaceutical brand.
