(Translated and compiled by Central News Agency, San Francisco, December 12) According to Reuters, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, the parent company of social media giant Facebook, informed employees that Meta made some mistakes in pushing forward its artificial intelligence (AI) transformation involving staff, and projected no further major layoffs before year-end.

Zuckerberg is investing hundreds of billions of dollars in AI technology to reshape the company’s internal operations—a trend mirrored across major U.S. corporations this year, especially in the tech sector.

Based on an internal memo obtained by Reuters, Zuckerberg addressed the rapid advancements in AI technology and the challenges brought by this surge.

"Given the complexity of these changes, we have indeed made some mistakes, and it's almost certain we will make more in the future," he said, adding that future organizational changes would focus on "maintaining team stability as much as possible."

Zuckerberg emphasized, "I don’t want to make empty promises, as the world is changing beyond our control," and reiterated that Meta does not expect another major round of layoffs before the end of the year.

Last month, Meta undertook a major organizational overhaul, conducting global layoffs affecting approximately 10% of its workforce, while reassigning 7,000 employees to new initiatives related to AI workflows. Zuckerberg stated that Meta will seek to find new roles for employees shifted to AI model training-related work.

"Creating meaningful new positions for employees allows us to downsize teams while retaining the flexibility to reassign personnel back to original roles if certain judgments prove incorrect," Zuckerberg stressed.

Meta declined to comment on Reuters’ request for remarks regarding the memo. (Translation: Hung Chi-Yuan) 1150613
