The公益 telemedicine platform 'Kan Yi Sheng,' promoted by Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Taiwan Telemedicine Service Alliance, held its Indonesia service launch ceremony in Jakarta on June 13, connecting Taiwan's medical resources online to establish a remote healthcare channel for Taiwanese businesses and overseas compatriots in Indonesia.

The ceremony was hosted by Alliance Co-Chairman Tong Min-Zhe, with participation from central and local government agencies, medical institutions, and representatives from various branches of the Indonesian Taiwan Business Association. Distinguished guests, including Chen Shu-Chin, President of the Asia Taiwan Chambers of Commerce Federation, and Yu Hsiu-Hsia, President of the Japan Taiwan Chambers of Commerce, attended to announce the official launch of Taiwan's cross-border telemedicine services in Indonesia, expanding the ASEAN healthcare network.

According to a press release from the Taiwan Telemedicine Service Alliance, this marks the platform's expansion into another ASEAN country after Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Brunei. To enhance service capacity, Taichung Veterans General Hospital announced its participation in the alliance during the Indonesia launch ceremony, becoming the first domestic medical center to join. It will collaborate with existing partners Tong General Hospital and Show Chwan Healthcare System to form an overseas medical support network.

Minister of Health and Welfare Shih Chou-Liang delivered a speech online, stating that Indonesia is a key economic hub in ASEAN and a concentration point for Taiwanese businesses, where people have needs for chronic disease management, daily consultations, and emergency care. He emphasized that the platform does not aim to replace local Indonesian healthcare, but rather to provide overseas nationals and compatriots with an additional channel to access Taiwan's medical system during emergencies.

Show Chwan Healthcare System CEO Huang Jing-Yuan, speaking online, said that since joining the公益 'Kan Yi Sheng' telemedicine platform, the system has served many overseas Taiwanese. She pointed out that concrete service achievements and life-saving cases occur daily, demonstrating the critical importance of telemedicine in supporting the health of overseas Taiwanese.

● Policy Breaks Geographical Barriers, Supporting an 'Economy That Never Sleeps'

Democratic Progressive Party legislator Chung Chia-Pin stated in his speech that telemedicine services connect Taiwan's healthcare system directly to overseas Taiwanese businesses and citizens. He emphasized that the implementation of this cross-border service will serve as a crucial support system for the government's 'Economy That Never Sleeps' policy.

National Policy Advisor Lin Kai-Min said that healthcare is not only a professional service but also humanitarian care that transcends distance. Addressing the challenges of healthcare accessibility and service disparities faced by Taiwanese businesses in Southeast Asia, the platform enhances healthcare convenience and demonstrates Taiwan's care and responsibility toward its overseas citizens.

● Protecting the Health of Taiwanese Entrepreneurs, Eliminating the Need for Long-Distance Travel to Taiwan

Indonesian Taiwan Business Association President Huang Li-Zhen stated that many Taiwanese entrepreneurs who have achieved success in Indonesia now need to prioritize their health. She noted that through the telemedicine platform, Taiwanese businesspeople and their families can directly connect online to Taiwan's medical resources, eliminating the need for frequent long-distance trips back to Taiwan or traveling to Singapore or Malaysia for consultations.

Wu Ling-Ying, Health Representative of Taiwan's Ministry of Health and Welfare in Asia, explained that the platform offers 24-hour emergency support, assistance with specialist outpatient appointments, and chronic prescription services. It can also coordinate international medical evacuations back to Taiwan when needed. The Taiwan Telemedicine Service Alliance emphasized that it will deepen cooperation with overseas Taiwanese business organizations and gradually shape an overseas healthcare network through巡回 launch events across ASEAN countries.
