(London, April 14 - CNA via international wire services) The United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy issued a joint statement today welcoming the agreement reached between the United States and Iran to end hostilities, announcing their preparedness to lift related sanctions against Iran.

The leaders of the four nations stated that they are ready to lift sanctions once Iran takes clear and verifiable steps to ensure its nuclear program is peaceful.

The statement reaffirmed the consistent position of the four countries: "Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons."

The four nations also emphasized multilateral cooperation, pledging close coordination with the United States, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to seize the current diplomatic opportunity and achieve a legally binding, long-term peaceful resolution.

The statement was jointly signed and supported by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Italy's Council of Ministers. (Translation: Chi-Chin-Ling) 1150615
