According to reports from CNA (Central News Agency), a neighborhood chief surnamed Xia from Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, is suspected of fraudulently claiming community construction and service funds between 2016 and 2019 (ROC years 105 to 108), leading to an investigation for violations of the Anti-Corruption Act and related charges.
The prosecution received reports alleging that Xia abused his official position to obtain public funds. Taipei District Prosecutors' Office, in coordination with the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice, executed court-issued search warrants at two locations: his residence and office.
Xia has been summoned to appear and provide explanations. The amount involved is estimated at several ten thousand New Taiwan Dollars. He is suspected of using his official position to fraudulently acquire public property.
This case highlights ongoing concerns about transparency and oversight in the management of local government subsidies. The Taipei District Prosecutors' Office is expected to trace the flow of funds and determine whether formal charges will be filed.
