Some Private Parking Lots in Tainan Charge Up to NT$120 Per Hour During Dragon Boat Holiday

In anticipation of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Tainan City Government today announced high-rate private parking lots across the city. Out of 360 private lots, 31 have registered rates exceeding NT$80 per hour, with 14 charging between NT$100 and NT$120. Visitors are urged to carefully assess pricing before entering to prevent disputes.

According to statistics from the Tainan City Transportation Bureau, high-rate parking facilities are primarily located around key transportation, tourist, and shopping hubs such as the front of Tainan Railway Station, Chihkan Tower, the Blue Print Cultural and Creative Park, South Fong Shopping Center, and the Xiaobei shopping district.

However, large public parking facilities such as Tainan Transfer Station, Haian Road Underground Parking, Shuijing Wetland Park Underground Parking, Ximen-Jiankang Multi-level Parking, Dongguang Underground Parking, Pingshi Park, and Chengde Li Multi-level Parking charge only NT$20 or NT$30 per hour on holidays. After parking, visitors can walk or transfer to YouBike for convenient and cost-effective travel.

The Transportation Bureau emphasized that parking spaces in downtown Tainan are extremely limited during holidays. The city continues to expand parking availability, including opening primary and secondary school campuses near commercial and scenic areas for holiday parking. However, users must be mindful of operating hours and ensure departure before closure.

Additionally, parking rates in certain high-demand zones are relatively high due to favorable locations or high land development costs. The city government has mandated that all rates be clearly displayed on an hourly basis, with distinctions between weekday and holiday rates and daily maximum charges clearly indicated. The font size for rate and maximum charge displays must be at least 18 centimeters in both height and width to ensure visibility and clarity for visitors.
