(Taipei correspondent Hsieh Ching-wen, New Taipei, June 17) The Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) announced today that they have signed a 19-year-old right-handed pitcher, Huang Yu-Sheng, to an autonomous training contract. The team stated they have been tracking Huang's development and recognize his continuous improvement, hoping he will add new strength to the pitching staff upon joining.
Huang Yu-Sheng graduated from Taitung Senior High School last year and entered the CPBL draft but was not selected by any team. He then enrolled at Chinese Culture University to further strengthen his skills. This year, he initially registered for the CPBL rookie player evaluation, but ultimately did not attend the assessment.
The Guardians issued a press release today announcing the signing of Huang Yu-Sheng to an autonomous training player contract. They noted that after entering university, Huang improved his average pitch velocity and enhanced his control, delivering outstanding performances in the University Baseball League and Spring League. His physical conditioning has also shown significant improvement.
The Guardians stated that they have continued to monitor the performances of undrafted players since last year's draft, and Huang Yu-Sheng's progress has been recognized by the team. Recently, they reached a consensus with Huang on joining, and officially signed the autonomous training contract today. The team looks forward to Huang's continued growth after joining and hopes he will soon become a first-team contributor. (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150617
