(CNA Reporter Chang Chien, Hong Kong, June 18) Hong Kong authorities announced today that according to the "2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook" recently released by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, Hong Kong's global competitiveness ranking has risen to 2nd globally.

A Hong Kong government spokesperson stated that among the four competitiveness factors presented in the yearbook, Hong Kong ranked 2nd in "Government Efficiency," 3rd globally in "Business Efficiency," and 8th and 11th globally in "Infrastructure" and "Economic Performance," respectively.

The spokesperson added that the yearbook once again affirms Hong Kong as one of the most competitive economies in the world, and also points out that Hong Kong's rise to 2nd globally continues its strong upward trajectory since 2024 and 2025. (Editor: Chou Hui-ying) 1150618
