(Central News Agency Reporter Wang Bao-er Taipei, June 18) The first overseas large-scale original art exhibition by Japanese manga artist Junji Ito has chosen Taiwan as its first stop and will open tomorrow. Junji Ito specially visited Taiwan for this occasion. He revealed that this is his sixth visit to Taiwan, which he considers his "second hometown," and hopes that audiences will appreciate the detailed brushstrokes in his artwork.

The media day for "Junji Ito Exhibition ENCHANTMENT" was held today. Junji Ito visited Taiwan in 2023 for "Junji Ito Horror Experience Exhibition 2." He stated today that compared to past immersive and experiential exhibitions, this exhibition focuses on the artwork itself.

Junji Ito said that although these are high-quality reproductions of original art, they still possess fine details, and he hopes audiences will enjoy them. During his visit to Taiwan, he will also hold fan meetings. He mentioned today that although he often needs to travel around the world for work, Taiwan is the place he has visited the most.

The exhibition brings together over 300 exhibits, organized into several themed special exhibition areas. These include exploring character charm and distorted humanity through "Beauty and Ugliness"; depicting the creeping unease in daily life through "Fear Lurking in the Everyday"; and focusing on the strong visual impact of classic scenes through "Grotesque Drawings," layering Junji Ito's narrative aesthetic of horror.

A lottery interactive installation designed by Junji Ito is specially set up at the entrance of the exhibition hall, allowing visitors to test their luck for the day before entering. Junji Ito joked that to fit the horror manga atmosphere, the proportion of "great misfortune" is particularly high. Additionally, there is a mirror interactive area designed for this exhibition, where visitors can see themselves integrated into the manga scenes while looking in the mirror.

"Junji Ito Exhibition ENCHANTMENT" will be on display at Warehouse 4 of Songshan Cultural and Creative Park from tomorrow until September 28. (Editor: Li Hengshan) 1150618
