Taipei, June 18 (CNA) Heavy rain fell in Taipei this afternoon. As of 4 p.m., the city government had received 41 reports of damage, 37 of which were related to flooding. Additionally, two people were struck by lightning at a construction site in Zhongzheng District. They are conscious and have been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Following heavy rain in Taipei this afternoon, the city government upgraded its disaster response center from Level 3 to Enhanced Level 3 at 3:20 p.m. The Taipei City Disaster Prevention and Protection Office issued a press release stating that as of 4 p.m., the heavy rainfall area was expanding towards Shilin and Beitou Districts. The Fude weather station in Shilin District has recorded hourly rainfall of 75 millimeters, with projections of up to 100 millimeters in the next half hour.

The Disaster Prevention and Protection Office stated that district offices have established emergency response teams and have received a total of 41 damage reports, including 37 cases of flooding. One instance of flooding occurred on Tingzhou Road Section 3 in Zhongzheng District, with water levels reaching approximately 20 centimeters.

Furthermore, the Disaster Prevention and Protection Office reported that two individuals were struck by lightning at a construction site on Nanchang Road Section 2 in Zhongzheng District. The two injured individuals have been sent to National Taiwan University Hospital for treatment and are currently conscious. The Labor Inspection Office and the Urban Development Bureau are dispatching personnel to the scene to investigate the cause.

Taipei police and firefighters received a report around 2 p.m. today regarding a lightning strike at a construction site on Nanchang Road Section 2. The two injured individuals include a 22-year-old male who experienced redness and burning sensations on his chest, left hand, and both lower limbs, but was conscious.
