(CNA reporter Hao Hsueh-ching Taichung, 18th) Regarding the recent successive visits abroad by Kuomintang (KMT) heavyweights, former KMT Chairman Eric Chu stated today that visiting foreign countries more often allows for expressing one's views and helps international figures understand the KMT better. He believes these are all good things, and as long as people are willing to visit abroad, everyone can offer positive encouragement and support.

Chu attended the 10th lecture in the "Taichung City Special Factory AI Sustainable Master Lecture Series" at Tunghai University in the afternoon, titled "AI, Cities, and Nations: A New Blueprint for Taiwan's Industrial and Economic Sustainability." While accepting media interviews, he expressed his support and blessings for the recent visits abroad by KMT heavyweights.

Chu mentioned that KMT Chairwoman Kirino Lee, Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, and Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an have recently visited abroad successively. Following this, Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu will also lead a delegation to visit the United States. Chu sent a text message wishing Han Kuo-yu a smooth and successful visit, hoping that through such communication, they can gain the support of the U.S. and international figures. He believes people should offer more blessings to those visiting abroad and wish them well.

When asked about the reception standards for Kirino Lee's visit to the U.S., Chu opined that the KMT is currently the largest party in the legislature. Whether it's the party chair or the heads of various governing cities and counties, visiting foreign countries more often allows for expressing one's views and helps the international community understand the KMT better. He believes the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) should view the visits of important KMT leaders with a positive attitude.

Chu added that the DPP should not be overly critical, because Taiwan's biggest predicament now is that President Lai Ching-te cannot go out. Since President Lai himself cannot go out, others should not be prevented from going out either. People should be brave and allow everyone to go out. As long as those willing to visit abroad are encouraged, everyone can offer positive encouragement and support.

Regarding the Mainland Affairs Council's (MAC) investigation into Taitung County Magistrate Rao Ching-ling's appearance via video at the Straits Forum, Chu pointed out that Rao Ching-ling spoke on behalf of farmers and should be supported. If the MAC insists on an investigation, it would become a "roadblock council" (a pun on MAC), specializing in creating obstacles and hindering cross-strait exchanges. As long as one speaks for the people, without personal gain or any political agreement, they should be encouraged. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150618
