(Washington, June 18, Reuters) U.S. President Trump stated today on his social media platform "Truth Social" that Apple has agreed to cooperate with Intel to design and manufacture its chips in the United States.
In May of this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that after more than a year of negotiations, Intel had reached a preliminary agreement with Apple to produce some of Apple's chips.
Regarding the related news, Apple and Intel did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment outside of normal business hours.
Apple relies heavily on TSMC for the production of advanced chips, and TSMC's advanced chip manufacturing capacity is currently in high demand from artificial intelligence (AI) chip manufacturers such as Nvidia and AMD.
As Apple expands its chip manufacturing capacity, cooperation with Intel will help Apple diversify its manufacturing locations. (Compiled by: Hsu Rui-cheng) 1150618
