TAIPEI (CNA) - Chang Hwa Bank announced that its overseas profits and wealth management fee income boosted its earnings last year. The bank has officially moved into the Kaohsiung Special Zone of the Asia Asset Management Center and established a wealth management center. Taiwan Business Bank stated that it will apply to handle high-net-worth business and enter the asset management special zone this year.
Today marks a significant day with the super shareholder meetings for four listed public financial holding companies and two public banks, including Mega Financial Holding, First Financial Holding, Hua Nan Financial Holdings, Cooperative Financial Holdings, Chang Hwa Bank, and Taiwan Business Bank.
The shareholder meeting of Chang Hwa Bank approved the 2025 business report and financial statements, and passed the profit distribution. A cash dividend of NT$0.8 per share and a stock dividend of NT$0.25 per share were approved for common stock.
Chang Hwa Bank Chairman Hu Guang-hua stated that in the face of rapid global financial environment changes, rising geopolitical risks, and the challenges of the digital technology wave, Chang Hwa Bank remains steadfast in its core values and continues to enhance its competitiveness.
Hu Guang-hua explained that this year's operational theme will be "Soaring High, Creating New Horizons," focusing on five major development directions: deepening customer engagement, promoting digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications, strengthening core deposit and loan business, implementing risk management, and deepening sustainable finance to create long-term stable value for shareholders.
Chang Hwa Bank President Chien Chih-kuang pointed out that last year, the bank successfully increased overseas profits and wealth management fee income, pushing various profit indicators to record highs. In terms of business highlights, the bank officially moved into the Kaohsiung Asia Bay Area and established the "High-Net-Worth Wealth Management Center" to expand its high-net-worth wealth management footprint. An AI professional team was also established, with plans to gradually extend generative AI technology to next-generation customer service, intelligent operations, and risk control review scenarios.
The shareholder meeting of Chang Hwa Bank also completed the election of directors. The elected members include current Chairman Hu Guang-hua, President Chien Chih-kuang, and directors Lin Hsiu-yen, Chang Chien-yi, and Hsu Jen-chieh, along with new director Kuo Chao-hung. The number of independent directors increased from three to five, including current independent directors Wu Yu-hsueh, Lee Shu-hua, Huang Chao-kuei, and new members Chou Yu-hsi and Lin Hsuan-chu.
The shareholder meeting of Taiwan Business Bank approved the 2025 profit distribution proposal, distributing a cash dividend of NT$0.3 per share and a stock dividend of NT$0.7 per share, for a total dividend of NT$1 per share.
Taiwan Business Bank Chairman Lee Chia-hsiang stated that the bank has continuously optimized its operational structure and improved its profitability in recent years. Through profit capitalization and capital increases, it has gradually improved its capital structure, laying a solid foundation for long-term development.
Looking ahead, Lee Chia-hsiang said that the bank will leverage its expertise as a specialized bank for small and medium-sized enterprises, deeply cultivating diverse corporate banking customer segments. This year, it will also apply to handle high-net-worth business and enter the asset management special zone, providing customers with more comprehensive wealth management products and services.
