For national highways, there will be high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) restrictions, and national highway buses with TPASS can offer discounts of up to 42%.
The Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Ministry of Agriculture, and other agencies reported on the 115th Dragon Boat Festival transportation and prices at the Executive Yuan meeting today. Executive Yuan Spokesperson Li Hui-chih, who hosted the post-meeting press conference, relayed that Premier Cho Jung-tai pointed out at the meeting that the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, through AI data analysis, found that compared to the same period last year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the average hotel booking rate has increased by 3.5%. Therefore, it is estimated that the volume of all types of transportation will be slightly higher than on a regular holiday.
Cho Jung-tai said that for national highways, the public is asked to pay attention to information regarding HOV restrictions. This year, 85 national highway bus routes are offering a 60% discount, and with TPASS and frequent traveler discounts, the best possible discount is 42%. For rail transport, the High-Speed Rail will add 92 services, and Taiwan Railways will add 116 services. Domestic air transport will provide 116,000 seats, and sea transport plans for 254,000 seats to meet the needs of island residents returning home and holiday tourism. The Civil Aeronautics Administration and the Maritime and Port Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications should also coordinate with operators based on actual conditions and increase services if necessary to prepare for emergencies.
Cho Jung-tai reminded that the Ministry of Transportation and Communications should thoroughly supervise all transportation units to ensure sufficient capacity is prepared, strengthen risk control and countermeasure implementation, and have backup mechanisms for transportation interworking. They should also implement safety checks for relevant transportation, equipment, and stations to ensure the public can return home and travel safely.
Cho Jung-tai also reminded the Ministry of Transportation and Communications to closely monitor various weather conditions, strengthen inspections along railway and highway routes and slopes, and take necessary response measures immediately if traffic safety is endangered. Information should be disseminated to the public through various channels such as the internet, APP push notifications, and the media. (Editor: Chai Szu-chia) 1150618
