Heavy Rain Warning Issued for Greater Taipei and Nantou; Localized Downpours Expected in Northern/Central Taiwan and Yilan Mountains

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) issued a heavy rain warning on the afternoon of the 18th. Due to the vigorous development of convective cloud systems, short-term intense rainfall is expected. Localized heavy rain or torrential rain is likely today in Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Nantou County.

Localized heavy rain may also occur in areas north of central Taiwan and the mountainous regions of Yilan. Residents are advised to stay alert for lightning strikes and strong gusts. Please take precautions against landslides and rockfalls in mountainous areas, and be wary of potential flooding in low-lying regions.
