(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 20) - On the second day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Directorate General of Highways (DGH) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications stated today that as of 9 AM, traffic flow on provincial roads has been smooth. However, congestion is anticipated this afternoon on sections including Provincial Highway 61 from Fengbi to Xiangshan, and Provincial Highway 3 in the Daxi and Dahu sections. The public is urged to utilize public transportation.

This year's Dragon Boat Festival holiday spans three days. The DGH issued a press release stating that on the first day of the holiday yesterday, some sections of provincial roads experienced heavy traffic or congestion. These included the Fengbi to Zhugang Bridge section of Provincial Highway 61 in the north, the Linkou to Luzhu section of Provincial Highway 61, the Bali to Tamkang Bridge section of Provincial Highway 61, the Longjing to Zhongzhang Bridge section of Provincial Highway 61 in the central region, the Dali to Wufeng section of Provincial Highway 74, the High-Speed Rail to Kuai'guan section of Provincial Highway 74, the Guanmiao and Rende System sections of Provincial Highway 86 in the south, and the Wujia System to Fengshan section of Provincial Highway 88.

The DGH stated that as of 9 AM today, traffic flow on provincial roads has been smooth. However, congestion is anticipated this afternoon on sections including major intercity roads such as Provincial Highway 61 from Fengbi to Xiangshan and the Zhunan section, Zhongzhang Bridge, and Provincial Highway 1 from Shuidingliao to Fenggang. Sections connecting to national highways include Provincial Highway 64 at the National Freeway 3 Zhonghe Interchange, Provincial Highway 74 at the Kuai'guan section westbound and Wufeng section eastbound, Provincial Highway 18 at the National Freeway 3 Zhongpu Interchange, Provincial Highway 86 at the Guiren Interchange eastbound and Rende System eastbound. Major trunk roads such as Provincial Highway 3 (Daxi section, Dahu section, and GuKeng to Meishan), Provincial Highway 14 Jia section at Cingjing Farm, and Provincial Highway 21 at Sun Moon Lake are expected to experience temporary traffic flow.

The DGH advises travelers to check surrounding traffic conditions before departing to avoid congested sections and times.

To accommodate the public's travel needs for returning home and going out, the DGH stated that it has requested bus operators to prepare sufficient capacity during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday and to ensure the safety of personnel and vehicles.

The DGH pointed out that this holiday also features a 40% discount on national highway bus fares. Additionally, registered TPASS 2.0 members will receive a 15% rebate for 2-3 rides in a month, and a 30% rebate for 4 or more rides. With both discounts combined, travelers can enjoy up to a 58% discount. For those with return travel needs, using public transportation is still recommended.

According to DGH statistics, yesterday, 6,274 intercity bus services operated on western national highways, transporting 136,421 passengers, a 22% increase compared to the same period in 2025. On eastern national highway bus routes, 1,632 services operated, transporting 32,905 passengers, a 4.4% increase compared to the same period in 2025. (Editor: Li Shuhua) 1150620
