(CNA Taipei, June 20) - Regarding a recent ultralight aircraft crash in Wuri, where no report was filed, the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) has imposed a fine of NT$60,000 according to law. Additionally, another ultralight aircraft crashed in a field in Huwei, and the CAA stated that this incident involved operating without a legal pilot license and not flying in a legal airspace, resulting in a fine of NT$300,000.

According to the latest violation penalties announced by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, one Savannah S ultralight aircraft belonging to the Taiwan Taiya Aviation Leisure Tourism and Development Association crashed while landing at the Wuri activity site in Taichung City. The CAA stated that the ultralight aircraft encountered crosswinds during landing, causing it to collide with tree branches and crash.

The CAA investigation found that although the personnel, equipment, site, and airspace were legal, the association failed to report the accident to the CAA as required after it occurred. Furthermore, they moved the aircraft from the scene and dismantled it, compromising the integrity of the accident site. The CAA, in accordance with Article 119 of the Civil Aviation Act, has imposed a fine of NT$60,000. The CAA has also issued a letter to the association, setting a deadline for improvement regarding management and reporting deficiencies, with further penalties to be imposed if improvements are not made.

Separately, concerning the recent crash of a Storch CL ultralight aircraft in a field in Huwei Township, Yunlin County, the CAA stated that this ultralight aircraft lacked an airworthiness certificate. The operator not only failed to hold a legal pilot license but also was not a member of a legal ultralight organization and had not obtained insurance. The aircraft did not take off or land at a legal site during its activity, nor did it operate within a legal airspace.

The CAA pointed out that in accordance with Article 119 of the Civil Aviation Act, fines of NT$60,000 were imposed for each violation, totaling NT$300,000 for the entire case. (Editor: Li Shu-hua) 1150620
