(Central News Agency, reporter Hao Xueqing, Taichung, June 21) The investment scam involving the founder of the popular hot pot chain "Danshuan" in Daya, Taichung, has also affected the taekwondo community, with dozens of coaches reportedly suffering financial losses exceeding NT$100 million. The Taichung City Sports Bureau stated today that it has been continuously expressing concern since the incident and will provide necessary legal aid information and assistance.

The investment scam involving the founder of the well-known hot pot chain "Danshuan" in Daya, Taichung, continues to escalate. The female founder, Ms. Hong, was active in the local community and attracted investors with promises of high returns and stable dividends. It is estimated that over 500 people have been victimized, with losses exceeding NT$6 billion. Ms. Hong and her husband left the country at the end of May, leaving a large number of investors unable to recover their funds.

According to media reports, as Ms. Hong also served as the chairperson of the Taichung City Taekwondo Committee, many taekwondo coaches invested funds and even introduced friends and relatives to participate. Now that their funds have vanished, not only their personal finances are impacted, but also the operation of their taekwondo studios. Approximately 30 coaches are known to be victims, with financial losses exceeding NT$100 million.

The Taichung City Sports Bureau responded by stating that since the incident occurred, they have maintained contact with the Taichung City Sports Association Taekwondo Committee and expressed their concern. The committee's operations are currently normal, and related training and grassroots taekwondo promotion activities continue without interruption.

The Sports Bureau pointed out that, based on their understanding, some of the affected coaches have formed a self-help group and are involved in judicial investigation procedures. Moving forward, if the incident affects the operation of taekwondo studios or leads to related needs, the Sports Bureau will provide necessary legal aid information and relevant assistance, continue to monitor subsequent developments, and maintain the stability of the grassroots sports environment.
