According to real-time national highway traffic information, around 12:00 PM, there was sporadic congestion on some sections, with Route 5 northbound between Yilan and Toucheng showing severe "purple" congestion, with speeds below 20 kilometers per hour. The Freeway Bureau estimates that the congestion will not ease until 9:00 PM.
Today is the return day of the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. The Freeway Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications issued a press release stating that as of 11:00 AM, the total traffic volume on the national highways was 27.7 million vehicle-kilometers. The estimated traffic volume for today is 108 million vehicle-kilometers, which is within the expected range. Congestion in the morning was mainly on Route 5 northbound between Yilan and Toucheng, with other sections experiencing generally normal traffic conditions.
According to real-time national highway traffic information, around 12:00 PM, congested sections included Route 1 from Xizhi Terminus to Tiding, Daya to Daya System, and Puyan System to Changhua; Route 5 between Yilan and Toucheng. Route 5 between Yilan and Toucheng showed severe "purple" congestion, with speeds below 20 kilometers per hour.
The Freeway Bureau predicts that northbound traffic will increase in the afternoon, with key congested sections including Route 1 northbound from Xiluo to Puyan System, Nantun to Houli, and Miaoli to Hukou; Route 3 northbound from Zhushan to Zhongxing, Caotun to Wufeng, Dashan to Xiangshan, and Guanxi to Daxi; Route 5 northbound from Yilan to Pinglin; Route 4 westbound from Tanzih System to Fengshi; Route 6 westbound from Dongcaotun to Wufeng System; and Route 10 westbound from Renwu to Zuoying Terminus.
The Freeway Bureau indicated that the national highway congestion is expected to ease after 9:00 PM.
