(Central News Agency, London, June 20, Comprehensive Foreign News) Scotland's counter-terrorism police are investigating multiple violent attacks that occurred in Edinburgh yesterday, resulting in injuries to five men. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the attacker's motive appeared to be hatred towards Muslims.

According to reports from Reuters and Agence France-Presse, police stated that a 36-year-old white Scottish man was arrested in connection with a series of threats, robberies, and vandalism incidents. Three of the five victims were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, and the public is no longer under threat.

Starmer condemned the incident on platform X, stating, "This is appalling, and no one should face violence on our streets." "The motive of the suspect appears to be hatred towards Muslims. I have absolutely no tolerance for this, and he will face the full force of the law."

Scotland's First Minister John Swinney also posted, expressing his "deep concern."

He added, "Violence, racism, or xenophobia will not be tolerated in our country."

Assistant Chief Constable of Police Scotland, Catriona Paton, said, "I want to send a clear message of support to all communities: racism or hatred based on faith has no place in Scotland. Scotland is at its best when we stand together."

The Scottish Association for Muslim (SAM) and the non-profit Muslim Engagement and Development (MEND) both stated that several victims were Muslim.

The latter pointed out that videos circulating online show the arrested man shouting phrases like "protect the country" from Muslims, accompanied by vulgar language.

According to police, the man remains in custody, and investigations are ongoing. (Compiled by Qu Xiangping) 1150621
