(Central News Agency, Créteil, France, June 20, Comprehensive Foreign News) French prosecutors said today that police, while searching a residence in a suburb of Paris for drugs, unexpectedly found an authentic painting by Pablo Picasso.

The prosecutor's office in Créteil, a suburb southeast of Paris, stated that an investigation has been launched to determine if theft and the sale of stolen goods are involved. Four individuals appeared for an immediate trial in court on the 19th in connection with this case.

According to "Le Parisien," which first reported the case, police conducted a drug search on the 15th in the small town of Champigny-sur-Marne, east of Paris.

The report also stated that in addition to the Picasso painting, police seized cannabis resin, designer clothing, and several thousand euros in cash.

The Créteil prosecutor's office confirmed that the painting has been authenticated as an original work by the Spanish artist Picasso. However, the prosecution did not specify which painting it is. (Compiled by: Ji Jin-ling) 1150621
