MANILA, Philippines (CNA, Reuters) - Philippine police announced today that a shooting incident at a school in the central Philippines has resulted in 3 deaths and 5 injuries.
According to Reuters, police stated that the shooting occurred at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, Leyte Province. One suspect has been arrested, while another is still at large.
The shooting took place around 9 a.m. local time, and the injured have been transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Police are working to determine the cause of the incident and have deployed additional security forces to the campus to ensure the safety of students, faculty, parents, and the community.
Authorities are urging the public not to spread unverified information and to cooperate with the investigation.
Campus shootings are rare in the Philippines, and such incidents are uncommon.
