Taipei, June 22 (CNA) Houston Astros pitcher Teng Kai-wei, a Taiwanese national, delivered a quality start on Wednesday, allowing just one run over six innings to lead his team to a 2-1 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. The win ended Teng's recent three-game losing streak in starts and marked his fourth win of the season.

Teng Kai-wei, 27, started against the Guardians. In the top of the first inning, he allowed hits to Travis Bazzana and Brayan Rocchio. A wild pitch then put runners on second and third base, but Teng quickly regained his composure, striking out the third batter to end the inning without any runs scored.

In the top of the second, with two outs, Teng issued a walk, followed by a ground ball out, preventing the opponent from extending their offense. In the top of the third, with one out, he gave up a hit to Kyle Manzardo, but then sequentially induced ground ball outs and a fly ball to right field, freezing the opponent's offense.

Teng retired the Guardians batters in order in the top of the fourth. In the top of the fifth, with one out, he allowed a triple to Petey Halpin and then gave up one run due to a ground ball, but did not escalate the scoring threat. He continued to pitch in the sixth, retiring the side in order before exiting the game after six innings.

Stuart Fairchild, a Taiwanese-American player for the Guardians, did not start today's game. He came in as a pinch hitter in the top of the seventh and drew a walk, missing the opportunity for a head-to-head matchup with Teng Kai-wei.

The Astros took the lead in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run by Yordan Alvarez. In the bottom of the fourth, they added another run on a walk and consecutive singles by Christian Walker and Isaac Paredes, ultimately securing the 2-1 victory.

Teng Kai-wei threw 83 pitches over six innings today, with his fastest pitch recorded at 152 kilometers per hour. He allowed four hits, struck out four batters, issued one walk, and gave up one earned run, earning his fourth win of the season. His ERA after the game stands at 4.03.
