Bucks, Heat Complete Blockbuster 2-for-9 Trade; Antetokounmpo, Portis Head to Miami

(CNA Los Angeles, June 22, Foreign News Agency) Sports channel ESPN and multiple American media outlets reported today that the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA) have reached a blockbuster trade, sending star player "Alphabet Brother" Giannis Antetokounmpo and forward Bobby Portis to the Heat.

According to Agence France-Presse, the Heat defeated the Boston Celtics in a bidding war to successfully acquire Antetokounmpo, 31, who was born in Greece. Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to a home championship in 2021, ending a 50-year championship drought.

In addition, he has been named NBA MVP twice, selected as one of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team, and made the All-NBA team nine times. Although his season was cut short by injury last season, he still averaged 27.6 points per game.

According to reports, the Bucks and Heat have agreed to a 2-for-9 trade deal, sending star player Antetokounmpo and Portis to the Heat in exchange for Heat star guard Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and Lithuanian rookie Kasparas Jakucionis.

ESPN reported that the Bucks will also receive three first-round draft picks, one draft pick swap right, and one second-round draft pick.

The trade also puts an end to months of speculation about Antetokounmpo's future.

Antetokounmpo had publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the Bucks' management after the team did not approve his playing time following a left knee hyperextension injury.

Antetokounmpo insisted he was healthy and ready to help the team make the playoffs, but the Bucks' top brass deemed him unable to play.

After the Bucks finished the season with a 32-50 record and missed the playoffs this year, Antetokounmpo also expressed dissatisfaction with the team's failure to build a championship-contending roster.
