Recalling Father Yin Yan-liang's Integrity and Honesty, Yin Chung-yao Discusses Succession: Focusing on Nanshan Life

(CNA Taipei, June 23) Yin Yan-liang, Chairman of Ruentex Group, passed away at the end of May. Yin Chung-yao, Chairman of Nanshan Life, spoke publicly about his father for the first time today. He said his father was a man of great integrity and honesty, living a free and easy life, "truly with the spirit of a chivalrous hero who cares for the world." His spirit and character have deeply influenced his family.

Regarding the group's succession issue, Yin Chung-yao responded that as Chairman of Nanshan Life, he is focused on the development of Nanshan Life, and his role has not changed significantly from the past.

Nanshan Life held its 115th Annual General Meeting today, and Yin Chung-yao accepted media interviews afterward. Yin Yan-liang, Chairman of Ruentex Group, founder of the Tang Prize, and a director of Nanshan Life, passed away on May 26. The public is concerned about whether Yin Chung-yao's role in the group will change.

Yin Chung-yao stated that after his father Yin Yan-liang passed away on May 26, a memorial service was held on June 12. Although it was not a public ceremony, it was very warm. A "seed card" was given as a gift to participants, with a seed that could be planted, symbolizing endless life. His father also did many things beneficial to Taiwanese society during his lifetime, and he hopes that through the seed card, the cycle of good deeds can continue.

Regarding external concerns about the next steps for Nanshan Life and Ruentex Group, Yin Chung-yao said that as Chairman of Nanshan Life, he is focused on the company's development, and his role has not changed significantly from the past. His father had also arranged for his partner, former RT-Mart CEO Huang Ming-tuan, to return as CEO of Ruentex Group to assist in the group's development.

Yin Chung-yao said that Huang Ming-tuan is his father's graduate school classmate and one of the few people mentored by his grandfather, Yin Shu-tien. Furthermore, Huang Ming-tuan previously served as the general manager of Ruentex Textile and can be considered a "godfather" of the retail industry. His business judgment will be beneficial to the development path of the group's subsidiaries and will also help the group strengthen professional manager governance. In other words, the overall strategic planning of Ruentex Group has not changed significantly.

Yin Chung-yao stated that the group's fields include medical biotechnology and senior living. Nanshan Life also continues to pay attention to new issues brought about by demographic changes. Policyholders are no longer satisfied with simple financial compensation, and insurance companies should not just be "financial doctors" but should provide more comprehensive services.

When asked by the media if he could share stories of his interactions with his father, Yin Yan-liang, Yin Chung-yao said that he has seen many people share small stories of direct or indirect interactions with his father. As a family member, he deeply understands the long-lasting impact of his father's spirit and character. His father was a man of great integrity and honesty, living a free and easy life, "truly with the spirit of a chivalrous hero who cares for the world." Regarding Yin Yan-liang's expectations for Nanshan Life, Yin Chung-yao said that Nanshan Life has about 4.7 million individual policyholders and over 6 million including group insurance. Nearly a quarter of Taiwanese families have Nanshan policies. His father was most concerned about whether policyholders were cared for and whether claims were processed quickly. He also cared about the limited coverage of commercial insurance, which is why Nanshan Life Charitable Foundation was later established to help those not covered by commercial insurance.
