(CNA Keelung, June 23) - Due to its steep terrain, Wulun Park in Keelung City has seen low usage by residents. The city government has invested NT$12.09 million to level the ground, construct accessible pathways, add an activity plaza, and install slides and log balance facilities. The project is expected to be completed by the end of November.

Keelung City Mayor's Office held a groundbreaking ceremony for the environmental renovation project of Wulun Park in Anle District today. Deputy Mayor Chiu Pei-lin attended and expressed gratitude to the city councilors for their support of the city government's budget. Thanks to everyone's efforts, the project was successfully included in the Ministry of the Interior's 2025 "Urban Landscape and Creative Environment Construction Plan," with a total investment of NT$12.09 million for the overall renovation.

Chiu Pei-lin stated that once completed, Wulun Park will become an important public space that combines recreation, leisure, and community interaction, providing residents with a higher quality living environment. The city government will continue to promote various public construction projects to create a more livable and friendly urban space and improve the quality of life for citizens.

The city government indicated that Wulun Park covers an area of approximately 2,300 square meters. The site is about 100 meters from an elementary school and is located in a densely populated residential area. Due to significant elevation differences and a lack of facilities, public usage has been long-term affected. This project will fully utilize the unique terrain features for improvement.

The city government stated that the project will be renovated using natural ecological engineering methods, creating accessible pathways with a slope of no more than 1:12. An activity plaza will be added around the detention basin. The pathways will connect a terrazzo slide and log balance facilities, allowing children to play in a safe environment and enjoy diverse outdoor activities. (Editor: Li Hsi-chang) 0623
