(CNA Taipei, June 23) Wei-Chuan Chairman Hsu Wen-Fang stated that the company's operations in the first half of this year were affected by soaring raw material and packaging costs, as well as an increasingly fierce competitive environment in the Chinese market, posing challenges to management. However, with the arrival of the summer beverage consumption peak season, he holds a cautiously optimistic outlook for the second half of the year, and will continue to deeply cultivate the Taiwanese market while exploring overseas markets for growth opportunities.

Wei-Chuan held its shareholders' meeting today. After the meeting, Hsu Wen-Fang told reporters that the food industry is a daily consumer goods sector, and its profits are significantly impacted by fluctuations in raw material prices. In addition to raw materials, rising costs for packaging and other materials also affected the company's operational performance in the first half of this year. Wei-Chuan's revenue for the first five months of this year was NT$8.619 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 4.17%.

Hsu Wen-Fang pointed out that Wei-Chuan has continuously invested in product research and development in recent years, launching new products tailored to the needs of consumers of different age groups. However, it takes time for new products to develop from research to market impact, and the company will continue to invest relevant resources.

Looking ahead to the second half of the year, he expressed a cautiously optimistic view on maintaining operational performance, as the summer beverage peak season is approaching, and the company will continue to strive to improve its operational performance.

Regarding overseas markets, Hsu Wen-Fang noted that consumption patterns in the Chinese market have changed in recent years, and the competitive environment has become more intense, affecting profitability. However, based on established policies and strategies, the company will continue to accelerate the development of its mainland China business. This includes focusing on deepening relationships with major clients and expanding sales networks, concentrating on juices and dairy products, integrating resources to enhance cost competitiveness, improving supply chain production and logistics efficiency, cultivating key talent and experts, and enhancing operational system effectiveness to confront the severe and changing market environment and competitive challenges.

He added that Wei-Chuan will also continue to deeply cultivate the Taiwanese market while evaluating opportunities in overseas markets to seek new growth momentum. (Editor: Lin Shu-yuan) 1150623
