(CNA Washington, 22nd, via Reuters) ESPN reported today that the Timberwolves, Nets, and Bulls have completed a three-team trade. The Nets will acquire three-time All-Star forward Julius Randle from the Timberwolves, while center Nic Claxton will move to the Chicago Bulls.
According to sources, the Timberwolves will also send their 28th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft to the Nets. In exchange, the Nets will give the 33rd overall pick to the Timberwolves.
This trade involves two teams, the Nets and the Bulls, that had significant salary cap space before the opening of free agency. Randle's $33.3 million salary for next season will be accounted for by the Nets, while Claxton's $23.3 million salary will be incorporated into the Bulls' payroll structure.
The Timberwolves, on the other hand, will gain greater salary cap flexibility to retain guard Ayo Dosunmu in the free agent market.
Additionally, the Timberwolves will possess the $15.1 million non-taxpayer mid-level exception and the $5.5 million biannual exception, which can be used to strengthen the team in the free agent market. (Compiled by Shi Shi) 1150623
