Taipei, June 23 (CNA) -- Communication app LINE is celebrating its 15th anniversary today. With over 22 million users in Taiwan, LINE is offering free limited-edition animated stickers, exclusive chat room effects, and a commemorative icon for its paid subscription service, LINE Premium, to thank users for their support.
LINE stated in a press release that since its launch on June 23, 2011, societal landscapes and communication methods have continuously evolved over the past 15 years, but LINE has always cherished its core value of "bringing people closer."
In response to major disasters, LINE introduced the Safety Check feature to help users notify friends of their safety during critical moments. The content portal, LINE TODAY, has also provided real-time information during natural disasters such as earthquakes and typhoons, assisting users in staying updated.
LINE also mentioned that it connects charitable organizations with the public through platforms like charity stickers and official charity accounts. As of the end of March 2026, a cumulative total of 17 charity accounts have been launched. Among these, the "Love Blood Donation" and "National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction" charity accounts each have over one million friends, and the charity sticker program has benefited over 250,000 people.
Furthermore, LINE highlighted its efforts to enhance platform security through mechanisms such as message verification, anti-fraud education, impersonation account alerts, and the disposal of fraudulent accounts. As of March 31, 2026, LINE Taiwan has cumulatively dealt with 133,010 fraudulent accounts and processed 332,000 reports of suspicious messages. (Editor: Lin Chia-hsin) 0623
