Taipei, June 23 (CNA) Taiwanese prospect Li Hao-yu of the Detroit Tigers started in today's Major League Baseball (MLB) game, recording one hit and one run in three at-bats. The Tigers defeated the New York Yankees 5-3, extending their winning streak to four games.

Li Hao-yu, a 23-year-old Taiwanese player for the Tigers, started at eighth in the batting order and played second base. In the bottom of the second inning, with runners on base, he struck out against Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, facing Cole again, Li Hao-yu hit a fastball to right field for a single. After one out, he scored on a double by Kevin McGonigle, adding the team's fourth run.
