Executive Office Changhua Branch Holds "Forbidden Song Golden Hits" Archive Exhibition Starting June 29

(Central News Agency, Changhua, June 24) To highlight the values of justice and care, and to revitalize the social application value of national archives, the Executive Office Changhua Branch of the Ministry of Justice will hold the "'Forbidden' Song Golden Hits: Taiwanese Forbidden Songs During the Authoritarian Rule Period" archive exhibition starting June 29, inviting the public to visit.

The Changhua Branch stated in a press release today that well-known classic songs such as "Wang Chun Feng" and "Mama Please Take Care of Yourself Too" were once explicitly banned by the government. In recent years, the branch has actively promoted the revitalization of archives and has borrowed national archive mobile exhibition resources from the National Archives Administration, Council for Economic Planning and Development, focusing on the song censorship system during the authoritarian rule period.

The Changhua Branch mentioned that songs at that time were often banned for reasons such as being decadent, suspected of implied satire, or affecting military morale. The exhibition will feature historical official document photocopies, remnants of banned songbooks, and censorship reports, along with photos and explanations, to unveil the past of forbidden songs and guide the public to relive the collective memory of Taiwan's democratic development and common people's lives from a gentle musical perspective.

To allow the public to experience the exhibition in depth, the branch has invited Xu Shaogang, associate researcher from the National Archives Administration, to give a guided tour at 10:10 AM on June 29.

The archive exhibition will be displayed in the first-floor lobby of the Changhua Branch from June 29 to August 25, during office hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free. (Editor: Li Shuhua) 1150624
