Stray dogs chase vehicles in Shoushan; Kaohsiung Animal Protection Office: Immediate capture and removal

(Central News Agency Reporter Tsai Meng-yu Kaohsiung June 24) Some citizens have reported stray dogs chasing vehicles on roads around Kaohsiung's Shoushan Zoo and Yuanheng Temple. The Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office stated today that improper feeding in the Shoushan area often leads to dog congregations. The city government will continue inspections and immediately capture and remove dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior or chasing vehicles.

A citizen posted on social media today stating that yesterday afternoon, while driving with their child past the entrance of Yuanheng Temple, they were suddenly rushed by many stray dogs chasing their vehicle shortly after passing the zoo. They could only yell loudly and speed away, a very perilous experience.

In response, the Kaohsiung City Animal Protection Office stated that it has continuously dispatched personnel to the Shoushan Zoo and Yuanheng Temple surrounding road sections to strengthen patrols and immediately capture and remove dogs exhibiting aggressive behavior or chasing vehicles.

The Animal Protection Office stated that investigations have found that improper feeding by certain individuals in the Shoushan area often leads to dog congregations. The Animal Protection Office will continue to conduct joint inspections with the Shoushan National Nature Park Management Office and the City Government's Environmental Protection Bureau, strictly penalizing illegal feeding activities.

The Animal Protection Office emphasized that this road section is currently a key control area for stray dogs. If citizens encounter aggressive dogs outdoors, please do not panic. It is recommended to pass carefully or avoid them appropriately, and record the detailed location to report to the 1999 Citizen Hotline.
