Li Hao-yu Hits Star Yankees Pitcher Rodon, Extends MLB Hit Streak to 3 Games

Taipei, June 24 (CNA) Major League Baseball (MLB) Detroit Tigers' Taiwanese talent Li Hao-yu has become an RBI machine. Today, he hit New York Yankees' star pitcher Carlos Rodon, extending his hitting streak to three consecutive games.

Li Hao-yu started today as the No. 7 hitter and second baseman. In his first at-bat in the bottom of the third inning against left-handed pitcher Rodon, he struck out after a seven-pitch at-bat. However, in the bottom of the fourth inning, he faced Rodon again and successfully hit a single to left field with an exit velocity of 106.9 mph. Unfortunately, the runner on second base was thrown out at home plate, and the team's rally was halted.

When it was Li Hao-yu's turn to bat in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Yankees brought in a right-handed relief pitcher. The right-handed hitting Li Hao-yu was substituted out. In total today, he had 2 at-bats with 1 hit, and his batting average is now .239. Since returning to MLB on June 14th Taiwan time, he has recorded 9 hits in 26 at-bats over 9 games.

The Tigers were leading 2-1 after the first five innings. However, in the top of the sixth, Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit a go-ahead two-run home run, and the Yankees scored 3 runs in the inning. The Tigers only managed to score 1 run in the bottom of the sixth, ultimately losing 3-4. The Yankees, on the other hand, ended their three-game losing streak.

Last season, Rodon had a record of 18 wins and 9 losses with an ERA of 3.09 and was selected to his third All-Star game. Today, he pitched 5.1 innings, allowing 3 runs.
