(CNA) - The AUTOMATE exhibition, North America's largest industrial automation fair, kicked off in Chicago on June 22, featuring 67 Taiwanese companies, making Taiwan the second-largest overseas participating country. Taiwan's Representative to Chicago, Paul Chen, stated at a press conference today that Taiwan has long promoted advanced manufacturing and automation, and by combining this with American innovation, the two sides will continue to deepen their cooperation.
The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago issued a press release today stating that AUTOMATE opened on June 22 at McCormick Place in Chicago, with major global players in robotics, automation equipment, artificial intelligence, and smart factory solutions exhibiting. A total of 67 Taiwanese companies are participating, making Taiwan the second-largest overseas exhibitor.
Taiwanese companies are showcasing innovative technologies in industrial automation, machine vision, intelligent control systems, and key components, demonstrating Taiwan's R&D capabilities and industrial integration strength in the smart manufacturing sector, and actively expanding into the North American market.
The Taiwan Excellence exhibition area features 23 companies displaying numerous smart manufacturing solutions, covering application areas from industrial robots, automatic control systems, smart sensors, machine vision, edge AI computing, to Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), assisting businesses in expanding manufacturing opportunities in North America.
Paul Chen, Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago; Molly Hope, Director of the Global Advanced Manufacturing Team at the U.S. Department of Commerce; Clarissa Schwendeman, Marketing Director of the Association for Advancing Automation; and Jerry Chang, Commercial Manager at the American Institute in Taiwan, attended the press conference and new product launch event on June 23.
In his speech, Paul Chen quoted legendary Chicago basketball star Michael Jordan, who said, "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships." He added that this perfectly describes the success of Taiwan's advanced manufacturing industry. With a complete and highly synergistic industrial ecosystem, Taiwan has long promoted the development of advanced manufacturing and industrial automation, driving industrial upgrades through innovation.
He stated that Taiwan is now not only a key global manufacturing partner but also a significant provider of smart manufacturing, automation equipment, and robotics solutions.
New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih led 20 companies to participate in the exhibition. An opening ceremony for the New Taipei City Pavilion was held on the first day of the exhibition, attended by guests including Dan Kim, Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce's Midwest Office.
During their visit, the New Taipei City delegation engaged in exchanges with the Chicago City Government, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, and the Manufacturers Association, strengthening international economic cooperation between the two regions.
