(CNA reporter Su Mu-chun, Taichung, June 24) The Taichung District Prosecutors Office is investigating allegations of embezzlement of school assets at Weige School. Yesterday, they summoned Yuan Chang-ping, founder of Taichung Money Leopard Hotel, and his wife Wu Wan-ting for questioning. Today, they applied for their detention on suspicion of public embezzlement and other crimes. The Taichung District Court granted the detention and denied visitation this afternoon.

The Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office announced in a press release today that prosecutors are investigating allegations of embezzlement of school assets of the Weige School Foundation, as well as assets of Baolijin Leisure Business Co., Ltd. and Jin Yue Fu Restaurant Co., Ltd. The investigation is being conducted by the prosecutors office in conjunction with the Central Region Mobile Work Station of the Investigation Bureau.

The special task force executed searches at Weige School and other locations on May 8 and June 23, 115 (2026). On June 23, Yuan Chang-ping and his wife Wu Wan-ting, who serves as the executive director of Weige International School, were summoned for questioning.

After interrogation, the prosecutors found significant evidence suggesting that the defendants Yuan Chang-ping and Wu Wan-ting had committed crimes including forgery of documents, public embezzlement, and violations of the Commercial Accounting Law. There are grounds to believe that the two individuals may destroy, forge, or alter evidence, or collude with co-defendants and witnesses. Therefore, they applied to the Taichung District Court for detention and denial of visitation, which was approved.

The prosecution stated that this case involves private school governance, family business operations, and legal boundaries. They will continue to uphold the principle of "thorough investigation of all evidence, prosecution of all illegal acts" to comprehensively investigate the alleged illegal activities of the defendants and uphold social justice.

It is understood that Yuan Chang-ping and others are accused of receiving kickbacks from suppliers during the renovation of Weige International School. The prosecution is currently investigating and clarifying the case.

Weige International School issued a statement today stating that the case has entered judicial proceedings, and out of respect for the judiciary, the school will not make further comments. School operations are proceeding normally, and teaching and student learning are continuing as usual. The school will prioritize children's learning and campus safety. (Editor: Hsiao Po-wen) 1150624
