KAOHSIUNG, June 24 (CNA) -- The Kaohsiung Light Rail (LRT) C34 transit-oriented development project, originally the site of the former International Business and Commerce College, is being transformed by the city government after the school's relocation. A briefing session for potential investors was held today. The city's Mass Rapid Transit Bureau stated that the project's total investment is NT$10.2 billion and aims to create an "Academic Medical Innovation Corridor."
The Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit Bureau held an "Investment Briefing Session for the Kaohsiung LRT C34 Transit-Oriented Development Project" in Taipei today, introducing the C34 joint development project to developers and investors.
Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor Lin Chin-jung stated in his speech that the C34 transit-oriented development project was originally the site of the former International Business and Commerce College. After its relocation, the city government promoted its transformation and development. The site area is 2.96 hectares, of which 1.3 hectares on the south side is planned as a joint development zone for the MRT, and 1.47 hectares on the north side is designated as the future site for the National Sun Yat-sen University's medical college.
Lin Chin-jung added that through joint MRT development and the introduction of higher education resources, an "Academic Medical Innovation Corridor" will be created in the future, integrating education, healthcare, industry, and livability functions.
Mass Rapid Transit Bureau Director Wu Chia-chang stated that the project is adjacent to the LRT C34 station and is surrounded by educational and medical resources such as Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Min-Sheng General Hospital, the Bureau of Health, long-term care service points, and National Kaohsiung Normal University. With the future establishment of the National Sun Yat-sen University's medical college, a complete healthcare industry cluster will be formed.
The Mass Rapid Transit Bureau explained that the project site covers an area of 1.3 hectares, with the principle of overall development of the entire area. Phased development plans can also be proposed. The site's floor area ratio is 630%, and it is estimated to create a development volume of approximately 36,000 pings (excluding parking spaces).
The Mass Rapid Transit Bureau pointed out that the site can be planned with diverse functions including residential, commercial offices, medical services, research and development spaces, and living support facilities, creating a composite smart community that integrates work, living, education, and medical services. The total investment amount is approximately NT$10.2 billion, with the bidding deadline set for October 30. (Edited by: Chen Ching-fang) 1150624
