(Central News Agency, Reporter Wu Sheng-hung, Singapore, June 25) The global tourism market is recovering, and outbound travel demand from Australia and New Zealand is rising. The Taiwan Tourism Administration, in collaboration with industry partners, is holding tourism promotion events in Australia and New Zealand. Shih Chih-chung, Director of the Taiwan Tourism Administration's Singapore Office, stated today that they will continue to connect with markets such as Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand to deepen cooperation with travel agencies and expand the visibility of Taiwan's tourism brand.

From June 17 to 25, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications' Tourism Administration, along with travel agencies, hotels, airlines, and cultural groups, held Taiwan tourism promotion events in Sydney, Melbourne, and Auckland. Under the theme "Taiwan Never Closes," these events showcased Taiwan's safe, convenient, and diverse travel appeal to the Australian and New Zealand markets.

The events attracted over 300 tourism industry professionals from Australia and New Zealand. Through B2B exchanges and immersive cultural experiences, the events aimed to deepen the development and sales channels for Taiwan's tourism products in the local markets.

Shih Chih-chung told CNA that according to market observations, Australia's outbound travel numbers in 2025 have recovered to 104% of pre-pandemic levels, and New Zealand's have rebounded to 101%, indicating steady growth in overall momentum.

According to statistics from the Tourism Administration, the number of visitors from Australia to Taiwan in 2025 is projected to reach 125,288, an increase of 11.32% compared to 2024, with a significant 16.63% growth in tourists traveling for leisure. Visitors from New Zealand are expected to be 18,242, a 6.97% increase, with a 10.4% rise in leisure travelers. Currently, there are 21 direct flights per week between Taiwan and Australia/New Zealand, continuously improving travel convenience.

Shih Chih-chung stated that the Tourism Administration's Singapore Office will continue to connect key markets such as Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand to deepen cooperation with airlines, travel agencies, and local partners, thereby expanding the visibility of Taiwan's tourism brand and attracting more travelers to visit Taiwan, continuing to fuel the tourism boom.

The Tourism Administration's press release indicated that the theme of this event was "Taiwan Never Closes," focusing on all-day travel experiences. It conveyed Taiwan's characteristics as a destination that is exciting 24 hours a day, from dawn to night, and throughout all four seasons. From morning markets and breakfast culture to night market snacks, Michelin-starred cuisine, and vibrant city nightlife, it presented a diverse and rich travel landscape.

In terms of business promotion, to enhance the depth of exchange, one-on-one business negotiation sessions were planned before the events. By directly connecting with local product managers, the focus was on itinerary development, themed product design, and channel cooperation, promoting the conversion of tangible business opportunities and further expanding the visibility and channel coverage of Taiwan's tourism products in the local market.
