Multiple Businesses Vandalized in Kinmen, Police Arrest Main Suspect and Obtain Detention Order

(CNA, Kinmen, June 26) -- In recent days, several businesses in Kinmen, including KTVs, have been vandalized by a violent group. Following an investigation, police apprehended six individuals, including the main suspect surnamed Hong, and transferred them to the Kinmen District Prosecutors Office for investigation. Prosecutors announced today that they have applied for and obtained court orders for the detention and prohibition of contact for three of the suspects.

The Kinmen District Prosecutors Office stated in a press release today that it had received notification from the police regarding multiple violent crimes that occurred during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday. During this period, businesses such as a KTV and a bar in the Kinmen area, as well as other public places, were successively attacked by unidentified individuals who used clubs and air guns to smash vehicles and throw Molotov cocktails.

Prosecutors pointed out that they assigned prosecutors to lead a special task force composed of the Jincheng Precinct, Criminal Investigation Brigade, and Jinhu Precinct of the Kinmen County Police Department. On the morning of the 24th, searches were conducted at six locations, and the defendant surnamed Hong and five of his associates were apprehended or notified to appear. Criminal tools such as baseball bats and iron rods were also seized.

Prosecutors stated that after questioning by prosecutors, it was determined that the defendant surnamed Hong and two others are heavily suspected of violating Article 150, Paragraph 1, and Paragraph 2, Item 1 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to carrying weapons in public places to commit violent coercion with the intent to use them. There is also reasonable grounds to believe they are a flight risk and may tamper with evidence.
