CPBL Draft First Round Revealed: Hsu Shu-cheng Becomes First Fielder from Kinmen

(Central News Agency, Taipei, June 29) The 2026 Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) rookie draft was held today at Top Hat Restaurant in Taichung. The top 3 picks were Chen Po-kai from Ta Hsi High School, Liao Yung-chuan from Nanhua University, and Chiu Wen-yu from Ping Jen High School, respectively. Hsu Shu-cheng was selected by the CTBC Brothers, becoming the first fielder from Kinmen.

The Fubon Guardians held the first overall pick in this year's draft, selecting Chen Po-kai, a key shortstop from Ta Hsi High School, making him the first draft pick in the school's history and the younger brother of Guardians pitcher Chen Pin-hung.

Following that, the Wei Chuan Dragons selected Liao Yung-chuan, a two-way player (pitcher and hitter) from Nanhua University, the Taiwan Steel Dragons picked Chiu Wen-yu, captain and infielder from Ping Jen High School, and the Uni-President Lions selected Huang Ching-che, an infielder from Taitung Vocational High School known as "Pink Supercar."

The CTBC Brothers, with the 5th pick, selected Hsu Shu-cheng, a shortstop from Kao Yuan Vocational High School. This selection makes Hsu Shu-cheng the second CPBL player from Kinmen after Weng Feng-yu, and the first fielder from Kinmen.
