(CNA Reporter Hsieh Yi-hsuan Taipei, June 29) The Central Weather Administration announced today that high temperatures of 36 degrees Celsius are expected in the greater Taipei area, central and southern Taiwan, and Hualien and Taitung for the coming week. Taipower stated that in response to the recent high temperatures, electricity consumption is anticipated to rise. The company has already strengthened the maintenance of power equipment for key customers and high-load areas, and is also planning infrared thermal imaging inspections and timely preventive equipment replacement.
The Central Weather Administration announced today that temperatures across the island are generally expected to be around 32 to 35 degrees Celsius in the coming week, with localized temperatures exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in the greater Taipei basin, near mountainous areas in central and southern Taiwan, and the East Rift Valley in Hualien and Taitung.
In anticipation of consecutive days of high temperatures, Taipower stated that it regularly conducts inspections of power equipment. In response to the recent high temperatures and the expected increase in electricity consumption, Taipower's various district business offices have already strengthened the maintenance of power equipment for key customers and high-load areas such as night markets and tourist attractions.
Taipower further explained that it is also planning infrared thermal imaging inspections and timely preventive equipment replacement.
