Strong Convection Development, Heavy Rain Advisory Issued for Areas North of Tainan and Eastern Taiwan

(CNA reporter Chang Hsiung-feng Taipei June 29) The Central Weather Administration updated its heavy rain advisory this afternoon, stating that strong convective cloud systems are developing, leading to potential short-duration heavy rainfall. Localized heavy rain is expected in areas north of Tainan, Hualien County, Kinmen, and the mountainous areas of Yilan and Taitung.

Areas affected by heavy rain include Taipei City, New Taipei City (North Coast), Taoyuan City, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City (mountainous areas), Pingtung County (mountainous areas), Yilan County, Hualien County (mountainous areas), Taitung County (mountainous areas), and Kinmen.

The Weather Administration reminds the public to be aware of lightning strikes and strong gusts. Mountainous areas should be cautious of landslides, falling rocks, and sudden rises in river levels. Low-lying areas should be prepared for potential flooding. Additionally, localized heavier rain may occur in the Hengchun Peninsula and Penghu. (Editor: Li Heng-shan) 1150629
