US-Iran War Key News

(CNA Tehran, June 29, Comprehensive Foreign News) Iran and the United States technical teams are reportedly scheduled to meet soon to discuss the implementation of an agreement to end the Middle East war, but the Iranian Foreign Ministry denied this today.

US news website Axios reported yesterday, citing US officials, that Tehran and Washington are expected to hold a meeting in the Persian Gulf state of Qatar on June 30 to resolve disputes concerning the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

CNN also cited a similar statement from a Donald Trump administration official; however, the White House has not yet issued an official statement.

But Iran's state television quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi as saying, "No working group technical meeting is planned for this week."

The last meeting between Iran and the United States was held in Switzerland on June 21, with delegations from the United States, Iran, Pakistan, and Qatar attending.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said today that the necessary procedures to unfreeze Iranian funds "are underway."

The Iranian Presidential Office quoted Pezeshkian as saying, "According to the plan, 6 billion US dollars out of the total 12 billion US dollars held in Qatar will be approved for release and returned to Iran." (Translator: Kao Chao-fen / Editor: Chen Cheng-chien) 1150629
