Apple iPad and Mac Prices Increase; Tsann Kuen States Orders Before June 24th Will Not Require Price Difference Payment

(Central News Agency, Reporter Tseng Jen-kai, Taipei, June 29) Apple last week unexpectedly raised the global prices of some products, including iPad tablets and Mac computers, with increases ranging from 11% to 35%. The price of the Mac Studio, in particular, increased by NT$17,000 overnight. Tsann Kuen, a major 3C retailer, was accused of demanding consumers pay the price difference before shipment. Tsann Kuen today solemnly clarified that all orders placed before June 24th will be shipped at the original price and will not be affected.

Tsann Kuen issued a statement today, addressing recent media reports and online content alleging that Tsann Kuen demanded consumers pay the price difference after Apple adjusted the prices of some products. Tsann Kuen clarified that all iPad and Mac series orders for which a deposit or full payment was completed before June 24th will be shipped at the original order price, and Tsann Kuen will not ask consumers to pay the price difference.

Tsann Kuen explained that for all iPad and Mac series orders where a deposit was paid or full payment was made before June 24th, existing orders will not be affected by Apple's price adjustment, and all will be shipped to consumers at the originally agreed price without requiring consumers to pay the price difference.

With the soaring prices of upstream components such as memory, Apple could no longer absorb the costs and unexpectedly announced on June 25th the price increase for its products ranging from HomePod, iPad, MacBook to iMac. The prices on the Taiwan Apple Online Store were adjusted simultaneously, with increases ranging from 11% to 35%.
