(CNA, San Francisco, June 30) - The Seattle Pride Parade took place on June 28th. Taiwanese-American drag queen Felicia Oh, dressed in a bubble tea costume, presided over the float. Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, Lin Mei-cheng, attended to cheer on the Taiwanese contingent, hoping to showcase Taiwan's diverse values to international friends and extend the energy to the Taiwan Pride Parade on October 31st.
June is global Pride Month, with many cities in the United States holding parades to celebrate. The Seattle Pride Parade, held on June 28th, is the largest in Washington State. Official estimates indicate over 250 groups participated, with the Taiwanese contingent marching in solidarity.
The Tourism Administration's float was designed around the theme of a rainbow bridge, symbolizing Taiwan building a rainbow bridge across the Pacific with "freedom and love." Taiwanese-American drag queen Felicia Oh led the procession in a bubble tea costume, accompanied by bubble machines to create a vibrant visual effect.
Lin Mei-cheng, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle, and Taiwanese citizens joined the contingent, marching to Taiwanese pop music. The float displayed the message, "The Party Continues in Taipei. See you on October 31st.," inviting people from Seattle, the Pacific Northwest, and international audiences to visit Taiwan.
The Tourism Administration emphasized in a press release that the Taiwan Pride Parade has long been one of Asia's most representative events of its kind, attracting tourists from around the world to Taipei's streets each year. The theme of the Seattle Pride Parade, "It is Time to Rally," is not only a call to the community but also resonates with Taiwan's cherished values of freedom, diversity, and equality.
