(Central News Agency, Reporter Shen Ruofeng, Keelung, June 29) Yu and two others are suspected of using falsified declaration documents to export servers equipped with Nvidia's high-end chips to Northeast Asia, and then transport them to Hong Kong. The Keelung District Prosecutors' Office launched a second wave of searches today, summoning another six defendants for questioning.
Yu and two others were aware that high-end AI servers produced by Supermicro Computer, Inc. (Supermicro), equipped with specific high-end chips from Nvidia Corporation (NVIDIA), are strictly regulated by the United States, with a complete ban on sales to mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Despite this, they intended to profit by using falsified documents for export declarations, allegedly reselling them to regions like Hong Kong.
Upon receiving the report, the Keelung District Prosecutors' Office launched its first search on May 20, summoning Yu, Wang, and Chen for questioning. After interrogation by the prosecutor, the three were found to be suspected of violating the Criminal Code for using forged private documents, and there were sufficient grounds to believe they posed a flight risk, risk of destroying evidence, or risk of colluding with accomplices and witnesses. The office applied to the Keelung District Court for their detention and prohibition of communication, which was approved.
The Keelung District Prosecutors' Office stated that after reviewing and analyzing the relevant evidence, it was determined that another six individuals are suspected of violating the Criminal Code for forgery of documents and breach of trust. Today, the office directed the Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Justice's Taipei City Investigation Division and the Coast Guard Administration's Keelung Investigation Corps to search the residences of these six individuals and the three companies they are affiliated with, and to summon these six individuals for questioning.
