(CNA Taipei, June 29) A strong explosion, suspected to be caused by a liquefied gas leak, occurred this morning in a community building in Huludao City, Liaoning Province, China. Local authorities have reported that 3 people are currently missing and 8 others have been injured. According to online footage, one side of the community building where the explosion occurred has almost completely collapsed, with severe structural damage.
The Xiaoxiang Morning Herald, citing a report from the local fire department, stated that the explosion occurred in a building in Xingbei Community, Nanpiao District, Huludao City, suspected to be a flash explosion caused by liquefied gas leakage. The fire department received the report at 7:11 AM this morning and dispatched multiple firefighters and fire trucks to the scene for response.
The Huludao City Fire and Rescue Bureau stated that the explosion accident has currently resulted in 3 missing persons, and efforts are underway to contact and search for them. Additionally, 8 people sustained minor injuries and have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The specific cause of the accident is under investigation.
According to reports and Chinese online information, multiple on-site images show that after the strong explosion, the side of the community building where the explosion occurred was almost completely sheared off, collapsed, and severely damaged structurally. Nearby roads have been blocked, and a large number of firefighters, fire trucks, and police cars have rushed to the scene for rescue and to maintain order.
