(Central News Agency, Reporter Chen Chih-chung, Taipei, June 30) The Ministry of Education today announced the examination guidelines for the 115th year of the government scholarship program. For fields related to the "Five Key Trust Industries," such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), a pilot program will be implemented with document review preceding interviews, and subsidy amounts for tuition and living expenses have been increased.

The Ministry of Education issued a press release today stating that the examination guidelines for the 115th year government scholarship program have been announced. This year, for fields related to the "Five Key Trust Industries" announced by the government, a pilot program will be implemented for the first time, with document review preceding interviews. All other fields will continue to use the traditional format of written exams followed by interviews.

The "Five Key Trust Industries" were declared by President Lai Ching-te in his inaugural address in 113 (2024) and approved by the Executive Yuan in 114 (2025). The relevant fields for the government scholarship exam include Artificial Intelligence, Information and Communication Technology and Applications, Network Communications, Information and Communication Security, and Emerging Semiconductor fields within the Electrical and Information Engineering cluster, totaling 40 positions. Within the Engineering cluster, fields include Materials Science and Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Energy Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Shipbuilding Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, and Flight Vehicle Positioning and Guidance, totaling 21 positions.

In addition to the pilot document review process, the subsidy amounts for tuition and living expenses have also been increased for the "Five Key Trust Industries" fields this year. The tuition subsidy will have a total cap, increased from the current US$90,000 for three years to US$120,000. The living expense subsidy, depending on the country or region of study, will be increased from a maximum of US$25,000 per year to US$28,000.

For all other fields, the format of written exams followed by interviews will remain. The tuition subsidy amount will temporarily remain at the previous regulations (US$90,000 for three years), but the annual living expense subsidy will be uniformly increased (to a maximum of US$28,000 per year).

It is important to note that candidates must attend in person for both written exams and interviews; video interviews will not be provided. Students intending to apply are advised to plan their overseas travel arrangements in advance to ensure they have sufficient time.

The total number of positions planned for the overall government scholarship exam is 201. Related application dates, written exam dates, document review and interview dates, and the announcement date for successful candidates can be found on the Ministry of Education website.
